Prova ottima ma amaro in bocca per il team Imega-Boninsegni a Montecarlo
Dodicesimo posto assoluto e primo tra le auto a combustibili gassosi vanificato da una penalizzazione che coinvolge 58 equipaggi e stravolge la classifica

È stata caratterizzata da molti colpi di scena l’edizione 2012 del Rally di Montecarlo per auto ad energia alternativa, valido come prima prova del Campionato del Mondo FIA riservato a veicoli a basso impatto ambientale.
Tra i 146 equipaggi al via anche il team biturgense Imega-Boninsegni, con il pilota Guido Guerrini e il navigatore Emanuele Calchetti a bordo dell’Alfa Romeo Mito alimentata a gpl con cui si erano laureati vicecampioni del mondo lo scorso anno. La gara, svoltasi su sei speciali di regolarità, ha visto i due toscani, sempre su ottimi livelli (a metà gara erano addirittura quarti), chiudere con un onorevolissimo dodicesimo posto, miglior risultato di sempre per il team Imega nella prestigiosa gara monegasca.
All’ultimo momento la classifica è stata però stravolta da una decisione dei commissari, che hanno inflitto una contestata penalizzazione a ben 58 equipaggi, sottraendo la vittoria nella classifica FIA ai luganesi Massimo Beltrami e Giovanni Merzari su Toyota Auris, sopravanzati dai francesi Sylvain Blondeau e Jean-Luc Hasler su Dacia Logan. Nella regolarità complessiva del rally, invece, vittoria per Bernard Darniche davanti a Jean-Claude Andruet, entrambi su Opel Ampera ed entrambi già vincitori in passato anche del Rally di Montecarlo di velocità. Terzo posto per il primo degli italiani, il campione del mondo in carica Massimo Liverani su Fiat Croma a biodiesel, che insieme alla copilota Valeria Strada ha centrato anche il secondo posto nella combinata regolarità-consumi. Quarto il francese Raymond Durand su Toyota Prius, primo a Montecarlo lo scorso anno.
Tra i soli quattro equipaggi italiani presenti, da segnalare anche la prova quasi perfetta della coppia piemontese Viganò-Fovana, già vincitrice dell’Ecorally San Marino-Vaticano dell’ottobre scorso, che su Alfa Mito a gpl ha guidato la classifica fino a metà dell’ultima speciale, per poi compromettere una vittoria storica con un errore nel finale.
Per i piloti del team Imega-Bonisegni un po’ di amaro in bocca ma anche molte note positive: “Questa gara effettivamente conferma che siamo competitivi su livelli alti” – commenta Emanuele Calchetti – “il Rally di Montecarlo è l’Olimpo di questa specialità, e l’elenco dei partecipanti parla da solo. Senza qualche piccolo errore di inesperienza commesso sulla mitica speciale del Col de Turini avremmo potuto fare anche meglio del dodicesimo posto, che comunque è di per sé un risultato notevole”.
“Sul campo, ovvero non considerando quella strana penalità saltata fuori alla fine per quasi metà degli equipaggi” – ha aggiunto Guido Guerrini – “abbiamo anche centrato il primissimo posto tra i 27 equipaggi a combustibile gassoso: senza dubbio un dato molto significativo a riprova dell’ottimo rendimento combinato di equipaggio, vettura e impianto di alimentazione”.
