Al via anche l’equipaggio femminile Barciulli-Olivoni grazie alla divisione greca di Imega.

Finale palpitante per il Campionato del Mondo FIA Energie Alternative, che si concluderà nel giro di meno di un mese con le ultime tre gare della stagione. Primo atto di questo lungo epilogo è l’Hi-Tech Ecomobility Rally in programma sabato e domenica ad Atene.

Principale motivo di interesse di questa gara il testa a testa fra gli unici due piloti, entrambi italiani, rimasti di fatto in lizza per la vittoria finale del mondiale: il toscano Guido Guerrini, attualmente in testa alla classifica generale, e il campione del mondo in carica Massimo Liverani, secondo a soli 6 punti di distanza. Guerrini, coadiuvato dal navigatore Emanuele Calchetti, cercherà di difendere il primato a bordo della Alfa Romeo Mito della scuderia Imega-Boninsegni. Per la prima volta sarà utilizzato in una gara ufficiale il nuovo impianto a gpl Imega Game, sviluppato per ottimizzare ulteriormente il rendimento dell’auto in termini di consumi. Il forlivese Liverani, su 500 Abarth a bietanolo del team EcoMotori.net, sarà invece in coppia con l’esperto co-pilota pistoiese Fulvio Ciervo.

Tra gli equipaggi al via da segnalare anche la presenza di una seconda auto Imega, con a bordo l’equipaggio femminile composto da Isabelle Barciulli e Francesca Olivoni, con ques’ultima già a punti nell’edizione 2010 del mondiale. Il secondo equipaggio Imega gareggerà a bordo di una Lexus RX 400 ibrida elettrico/gpl allestita, anch’essa con impianto Game, dalla divisione greca di Imega.

L’amministratore delegato di Imega Hellas, Paskal Shuta, spiega così la scelta di allestire un secondo equipaggio: “Dopo aver fornito per due anni assistenza tecnica e logistica all’equipaggio di Guerrini e Calchetti”, dice Shuta, “abbiamo fortemente voluto fare un salto di qualità proponendo al via una nostra auto, per valorizzare nel migliore dei modi la crescita segnata dalla nostra azienda in questi ultimi anni.

L’ad di Imega Hellas sottolinea anche come sia “evidente l’importante ruolo che può rivestire un sistema di alimentazione come quello a gpl in termini di risparmio economico per le famiglie greche, fortemente provate dalla gravissima crisi economica che sta colpendo il paese ormai da molto tempo”.

“Partecipare a questo campionato è davvero entusiasmante”, sottolinea Isabelle Barciulli, per la prima volta in una gara internazionale dopo l’ottima prestazione nel campionato italiano ad Avellino, “anche grazie al grande affiatamento con le ragazze e i ragazzi del team Imega-Boninsegni. Speriamo di confermare le attese della squadra”, aggiunge Barciulli, “e di dimostrare che in questo sport un equipaggio femminile può competere con quelli maschili”.

Emanuele Calchetti, attualmente leader della classifica mondiale co-piloti con due punti di vantaggio sul basco Carlos Garcia, individua anche altri avversari pericolosi: “La gara greca è tradizionalmente molto competitiva”, dice il navigatore di Sansepolcro, “e anche tra i padroni di casa ci sono equipaggi forti, a cominciare dal duo Lambouras – Filippakis su Toyota Yaris, o da  Dimitris Malathritis su Prius”.
